Abstrak: Guidance and counseling is basically an effort to provide assistance to achieve optimal human development, both individually and in groups. The implementation of personal guidance to develop student independence needs to be considered with the success of students in solving various problems faced in the world of education and being able to tell the problem to the counseling counselor, the implementation of personal guidance for the counseling teacher's efforts in providing assistance to students to solve problems and develop the independence of a child's attitude who are able to act freely to do something on their own for their own needs without any help from others or think and act creatively so that they have self-confidence in learning. The problem that occurs at SMAN 2 Aceh Barat Daya is that students often experience a commotion in class when the teacher does not teach in class, there is noise from students who are lazy to learn to disturb their friends who are studying and make assignments that have not been completed, sometimes there are also students who are lazy to learn make a scene outside the classroom so that it triggers other students to leave the classroom. This study aims to find out how the implementation of personal guidance is to develop the independence of students at SMAN 2 Aceh Barat Daya, to find out the methods of developing student independence at SMAN 2 Aceh Barat Daya and to find out what obstacles the teacher faces in personal guidance to develop student independence in SMAN 2 Aceh Barat Daya. The type of research used is qualitative in nature, data collection methods are used by observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation, and the subjects of this are three counseling teachers, 30 students of SMAN 2 Aceh Barat Daya. The results show that the guidance and counseling teacher plays an important role in the implementation of guidance and counseling. A counseling teacher determines the future of students in developing student independence in the field of learning to realize their learning potential related to the implementation of personal guidance so that educational goals are achieved that produce bright and bright participants. have a superior character. The obstacles that were found were students felt reluctant to enter the BK room to meet the BK teacher, the BK room was not adequate, the BK teacher was considered as school police.
