Abstrak: ABSTRACT DIDI ARPENI, NIM. 1802051003 with the thesis title "Improving the Performance of Guidance and Counseling Teachers through Community Based Research (CBR) Approaches in Dharmasraya Regency". Postgraduate Islamic Education Guidance and Counseling Study Program at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Batusangkar in 2021. The main problem in this thesis is the low level of BK teachers in planning the BK program, organizing BK, implementing and controlling BK in schools, evaluating or evaluating the implementation of BK and follow-up in BK services so that the performance of BK teachers is not yet optimal. On the other hand, there is a lack of guidance and support from school principals, school supervisors and the Education Office on the performance of BK teachers. The type of research used in this study is a qualitative approach. Where qualitative research is carried out by means of descriptions in the form of words and language, in a special natural context and by utilizing various scientific methods that intend to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by the research subject holistically and scientifically. The type of this approach is descriptive, namely research that seeks to describe the current problem solving based on data. The results of research on improving the performance of guidance and counseling teachers through the Community Based Research (CBR) Approach in Dharmasraya Regency concluded that: There is a commitment from BK teachers to improve performance in carrying out their duties and responsibilities at school, principals can understand their role as managers in schools in supporting and encourage the smooth implementation of BK services in schools, Through FGDs can establish cooperation and inspire to carry out the duties and responsibilities among BK teachers, school principals and also other policy makers, namely the head of the Dharmasraya Regency education office, the Head of the Provincial Education Office Branch West Sumatra and also the Coordinator of Senior High School/Vocational Education Supervisors.
