NIM, BKPI. 1702052013, Thesis Title: "The influence of group counseling using self-instruction techniques in reducing glossophobia in students of SMPN 2 Kubung". Graduate Program in Guidance and Counseling Islamic Education State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Batusangkar. This research begins with the fact that there are students at SMPN 2 Kubung who have high glossophobia. School counselors are one of the parties who seek to assist students in reducing students' glossophobia. This study aims to determine the effect of group counseling using self-instruction techniques on the level of glossophobia in public in students. This research is a research with One-Group Pretest-Posttest Designs. The sample in this study was class VIII students, totaling 8 students. The technique used in sampling is purposive sampling. The data collection technique used a glossophobia scale. The data analyst used SPSS version 25 application with the analysis technique of paired sample t-test and n-Gain test. The research findings show that glossophobia in class VIII.4 SMPN 2 Kubung before being given group counseling using self-instruction techniques (pre-test) is in the high category, and after being given group counseling using self-instruction techniques (post-test) is in the moderate category. This shows that there are differences in glossophobia before and after being given group counseling services using self-instruction techniques, so it can be concluded that group counseling with self-instruction techniques as guidance and counseling services is effectively used in reducing glossophobia for students of SMPN 2 Kubung. Therefore, guidance and counseling teachers at schools are advised to use self-instruction techniques to help students reduce/reduce the level of glossophobia.
